Accelebrate's Team
Steve Heckler
President
Steve founded Accelebrate in March 2002. He selects new courses, works with clients on the design and technical setup of their classes, manages Accelebrate’s overall business, and teaches once a month (which he loves). Prior to founding Accelebrate, he served nearly seven years as Vice President and then President of a Washington, DC-based IT training firm.
Steve is passionate about education and ensuring that every Accelebrate student has a successful class with a knowledgeable, engaging instructor and hands-on material that is directly relevant to their real-world projects. Within the firm, Steve is one of Accelebrate’s lead instructors for Apache httpd, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, IIS, and lighttpd.
Outside of Accelebrate, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, helping lead workouts with a local fitness bootcamp, traveling, watching international movies, and reading about foreign policy and current affairs. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Stanford University.
Lisa Bell
Logistics Coordinator
Lisa joined Accelebrate in 2004 to manage the logistics for all classes from start to finish, ensuring that each class runs smoothly. Prior to each class, she works with the firm’s clients to gather preferences on everything from class start/end times to the appropriate dress code. She also orders each class’s training materials and coordinates with the client to ensure their receipt. In addition, Lisa built and manages Accelebrate’s intranet, and helps administer the firm’s GSA Schedule contract.
Lisa has a combined degree in business, computers and arts administration from SUNY Fredonia. She has spent the last 12 years as a web developer and has been doing logistical management and event coordination since 1989. Lisa and her husband have had many opportunities to travel both inside and outside the US and are eager to explore new places whenever they get the chance.
Lynn Gant
Sales Manager
Lynn joined Accelebrate in May 2006 to lead the firm’s sales efforts. Her role includes the entire spectrum of the sales process: responding to inquiries, preparing and sending proposals, scheduling client conference calls with trainers, confirming training dates, and post-class follow-up. Lynn enjoys speaking with clients from throughout the world and matching them with the appropriate course and trainer.
Lynn had 13 years of experience working in the training industry before joining the Accelebrate team. She worked for two Washington, DC-based training firms as a Training Manager, Operations Manager and Business Development Director. Outside of Accelebrate, Lynn enjoys long bike rides, painting murals, traveling, attending cooking classes, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends. She has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from George Mason University.
Mike Kullen
Content and Curriculum Manager

Mike joined Accelebrate in late 2012 as Manager of Content and Curriculum. Among other things, he coordinates the technical setup for most of Accelebrate's on-site and online training sessions, making sure that the classroom computers, rental laptops, or virtual machines are all equipped in the best possible way for a successful class. Before coming to Accelebrate, Mike spent 6 years as a consultant, instructor, and Curriculum Manager for a training firm in Washington, DC, and then was a consultant doing backend application & database development for financial firms for 11 years.
Mike has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Georgetown University, and several years of acting training from theater programs in Washington, DC and Philadelphia. Mike loves going on adventures with his family, and also dabbles in nature photography and building an open-source media network at home.
Jason Bell
Director of Technology & Senior Instructor
Jason started as a contract instructor for Accelebrate in 2005 and then became a full-time member of the team in 2012 when adding the additional role of Accelebrate's Directory of Technology. In that role, he is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective running of Accelebrate's IT infrastructure and employing new technologies to support the organization's continued growth. Jason also continues to be one of Accelebrate's lead instructors and a courseware author in the areas of .NET and iOS software development.
Jason has been doing computer programming of one kind or another since his father purchased a TI-99/4A back in 1982. He served as a member of the United States Air Force for eight years and studied Computer Science at the University of Maryland. During the early days of Microsoft .NET, his work was featured in MSDN Magazine and he co-authored five books published by Wrox Press. Away from work, Jason is a private pilot and enjoys running, biking, and mountaineering.
Anne Fernandez
Instructor Travel & Recruiting Coordinator
Anne joined Accelebrate in January 2010 to help facilitate trainer travel by finding the most direct flights and comfortable hotels as close as possible to the training site. Prior to joining the Accelebrate team, Anne served for four years as a web development trainer in a DC-based firm where traveling to teach was part of her job. She understands the importance of doing everything possible to ensure smooth travel so that Accelebrate’s trainers are well rested and refreshed in order to deliver a top-notch class. She also makes updates to the Accelebrate website, recruits trainers, and works on various projects to promote the business.
Anne recently moved in Virginia after living overseas for 10 years in Egypt and Indonesia. She enjoys traveling a with her husband and two young children and teaching Yoga classes to kids.
