YUI 2 Training Overview

Accelebrate's YUI 2 Training: Using the Yahoo User Interface Library training course teaches attendees to use the freely-available YUI library to simplify many client-side JavaScript and user interface development challenges. Attendees will learn how to perform Document Object Model (DOM) manipulations that dynamically change the content and appearance of their Web pages, how to make Ajax requests to retrieve and incorporate new content from a server and how to create user interface elements such as tabbed layout, dialogs and trees.

YUI 2 Training Materials

All students receive a copy of Packt Publishing's Learning the Yahoo! User Interface Library as well as electronic copies of the class files.

Software Needed on Each Student PC

Internet Explorer 7 or higher
Firefox 3 or higher with the Firebug plugin installed
The Web page or text editor students will be using after the class

YUI 2 Training Prerequisites

Accelebrate's Mastering JavaScript course or equivalent experience. If attendees will not have thorough knowledge of JavaScript, please let us know and we will precede this course with a one-day JavaScript primer.

Hands-on/Lecture Ratio

This YUI training class is 70% hands-on, 30% lecture, with the longest lecture segments lasting for 20 minutes. Students "learn by doing," with immediate opportunities to apply the material they learn to real-world problems.

YUI 2 Training Objectives

All students will:

Incorporate the core YUI library and supporting library files into Web pages.
Perform DOM manipulations and set up event handling using the YUI DOM class.
Initiate Ajax requests with the YUI Connection Manager and handle responses in various formats.
Set up compelling user interfaces that include tab panels, dialogs, trees and autocompletes.
