LINQ Training Overview

Accelebrate's LINQ Training: Introduction to Language Integration Query (LINQ) using C# 2010 training class teaches attendees to easily create complex data-independent queries. In addition, students learn about the language features for Visual C# in Visual Studio 2010 in order to make LINQ possible.

NOTE: Accelebrate also offers Introduction to LINQ Training for Visual Basic 2010.

LINQ Training Prerequisites

All attendees should have prior experience developing applications in .NET 2.0 or later using C# or Visual Basic and some familiarity with the use of interfaces and generics.

Hands-on/Lecture Ratio

This LINQ training class is 70% hands-on, 30% lecture, with the longest lecture segments lasting for 20 minutes.

LINQ Training Materials

All LINQ training students receive a hands-on lab manual and a related textbook.

Software Needed on Each Student PC

  • Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 with at least 3GB RAM
  • Visual Studio 2010 SP1 or later
  • SQL Server 2008 Express or later
  • Related sample databases and lab files that Accelebrate would provide

LINQ Training Objectives

  • Create new XML content using LINQ to XML.
  • Iterate through collections of objects, using a single LINQ query.
  • Use anonymous types, lambda expressions, extension methods, object initializers, and implicit type declaration.
  • Query arrays, lists, dictionaries, and more using LINQ to Objects.
  • Use the extension methods provided by the System.Linq.Enumerable class to extend the behavior of collection classes.
  • Create an object model based on a SQL Server database and then query the database using LINQ to SQL.
  • Modify data and use stored procedures with LINQ to SQL.
  • Create XML content using classes in the System.Xml.Linq namespace.
  • Validate, query and transform XML content using LINQ to XML.
  • Transform XML content using LINQ to XML.
  • Create an Entity Data Model based on a data source and then query the data using LINQ to Entities.
  • Modify data and use stored procedures with LINQ to Entities.
