Mobile Development Training Overview

Accelebrate's Mobile Web Design with HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript training class teaches students how to produce dynamic, cross-browser compatible mobile sites using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

Location and Pricing

Most Accelebrate courses are taught on-site at our clients' locations worldwide for groups of 3 or more attendees and are customized to their specific needs. Please visit our client list to see organizations for whom we have recently delivered training. These courses can also be delivered as live, private online classes for groups that are geographically dispersed or wish to save on the instructor's or students' travel expenses. To receive a customized proposal and price quote private training at your site or online, please contact us.

In addition, some courses are available as live, online classes for individuals.  To see a schedule of online courses, please visit http://www.accelebrate.com/online_training/?action=category&page=mobile-web-development.

Mobile Development Training Prerequisites

All attendees would ideally have some experience with HTML prior to the training. Prior programming/scripting experience is helpful but not required.

Hands-on/Lecture Ratio

This training class is 60% hands-on, 40% lecture, with the longest lecture segments lasting for 25 minutes. Students "learn by doing" with immediate opportunities to apply the material they learn to real-world problems.

Mobile Development Training Materials

All attendees receive a copy of Wiley's HTML5 Digital Classroom and related course materials.

Software Needed on Each Student PC

  • Web or text editor of your choice
  • One of the following browsers:
    • Firefox 8 or later
    • Internet Explorer 9 or later
    • Google Chrome 7.0 or later
    • Safari 5 or later
    • Opera 10.5 or later
  • If space on a web server is available, students may also wish to bring their mobile devices so they can test how pages appear on these devices; otherwise, we will recommend an emulator
  • Please contact us for comprehensive setup details

Mobile Development Training Objectives

All students will learn to:

  • Create a website that can respond to the specific needs of the environment on which it is being viewed, presenting a layout that is equally - and differently - appropriate for mobile, table, and desktop devices
  • Learn to leverage the capabilities of HTML5 to present mobile-friendly sites, and understand the varying levels of support for some features among different devices
  • Understand how to use CSS Media Queries to display content modified to fit the client device
  • Understand the GeoLocation API and use it to integrate the user's location into websites
  • Integrate video and other media appropriately for mobile devices
  • Learn how to use the jQuery Mobile framework to add support effects and animation
  • Use PhoneGap to build mobile applications
