Advanced Python Training Overview
Once students have mastered the basics of Python via Accelebrate's introductory Python course or their own work, it's time to move on to applying Python to daily programming needs. This course picks up where Introduction to Python Programming left off, covering some topics in more detail, and adding new ones. For instance, regular expressions and classes are covered extensively, with network programming (FTP, Web client and server), graphical programming, database access, and other areas of general need.
This is a hands-on programming class. All concepts are reinforced by informal practice during the lecture followed by graduated lab exercises.
Location and Pricing
Most Accelebrate courses are taught on-site at our clients' locations worldwide for groups of 3 or more attendees and are customized to their specific needs. Advanced Python Training Prerequisites
All Advanced Python training students should be able to write simple Python scripts, using basic data types, program structures, and the standard Python library.
Hands-on/Lecture Ratio
This advanced Python training class is 70% hands-on, 30% lecture, with the longest lecture segments lasting for 15 minutes. Students "learn by doing," with immediate opportunities to apply the material they learn to real-world problems.
Advanced Python Training Materials
All Advanced Python training students receive a copy of O'Reilly's Python Cookbook and related courseware.
Software Needed on Each Student PC
The following should be installed on each student PC:
- Python 2.6 (available from http://www.python.org/ or http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePython/
- Any good text editor (vim and/or emacs recommended under Unix; vim, TextPad recommended for Windows)
- Any Windows (2000/XP/2003/Vista/7) or Unix/Linux operating system
- Any robust text editor (vim and/or emacs recommended under Unix; TextPad, UltraEdit, and vEdit are good choices for Windows)
Advanced Python Training Objectives

- Process text using regular expressions

- Perform basic graphics programming
- Create modules
- Test and debug applications
- Take advantage of Python's object-oriented features
