We get it. We're working from home too. We understand the demands of a 'home office' and possible challenges of attending online training during this time. We have been providing onsite AND online training since 2002 and have successfully delivered more than 1,000 online classes with average evaluations consistently over 9.0 out of 10.0.
In the wake of the sudden emergence of the Coronavirus crisis, we have been seamlessly converting onsite classes to online classes. While doing so, we have been listening carefully to our clients to fully understand their needs and concerns regarding online training. Our goal is to address these concerns and make sure our students have a productive online training experience that is just as valuable as in-person training. Here are some of the concerns that have come up:
Q: If my team and I have other demands at home, how would it be possible to attend an all-day course?
A: We can vary the hours of the class to meet your needs, even running classes (or portions of classes) at night or on the weekend. We can also record portions of the class so that students can complete those pieces at a time convenient for them.
Q: What if my team and I want live online training, but our team can't all meet at the same time?
A: We work with you to provide the training on your schedule. Want classes on to run Tuesday and Thursday evenings? How about Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings? On the weekend? It is up to you! And as noted above, we can record portions of the training, making it easier to accommodate diverse schedules.
Q: Can online training be interactive and engaging?
A: Absolutely! Our instructors are seasoned online trainers who are skilled at keeping every student engaged through a mix of intensive hands-on and two-way discussion. In addition to speech, we take advantage of every feature of the online platform, including chat, polling, and hand raising.
Q: How can I ask questions and get real-time help with the labs if I'm in an online class?
A: Just like in a regular class! You can speak up and even share your screen with the instructor if you'd like help with a particularly challenging problem. Online chat is useful for times when you'd like to put a question in the instructor's queue but not immediately interrupt their presentation.
Q: What if others on our staff or I am uncomfortable using online meeting tools like Zoom, WebEx, Adobe Connect, GoToTraining, or Microsoft Teams?
A: Have no fear! Prior to class, we hold a test session for all students to make sure they can access all features of the online platform such as audio, video, chat, screenshare, etc. We use Zoom, GoToTraining, or WebEx by default, but can readily teach using any platform your organization prefers.
Q: What equipment makes online training easiest?
A: We strongly recommend having a USB or Bluetooth headset, as well as a second monitor (or a second laptop to sign into the session). That way, you can see the instructor's screen on one monitor while completing your classes hands-on labs on the other. If some of your attendees lack a USB headset or second monitor, we can provide these at cost as part of your training package.
Q: Can I still get the training tailored to my team's needs and goals?
A: Yes! Whether in-person, online, or a hybrid of both, we always work with you to customize the perfect class for your team or 3 or more attendees. In addition, we can add projects, quizzes, or homework based on your desired outcomes.
