What is Microsoft SharePoint?

SharePoint is Microsoft's popular, highly customizable collaboration and management platform, which is available in the cloud or on-premise. SharePoint’s communication, collaboration, and productivity tools help teams work together and share information from anywhere in the world. Organizations of all sizes depend on SharePoint to manage their documents and data, from sales to marketing to accounting and beyond. SharePoint also allows teams to create websites and intranets, create business process workflows, automate tasks, display dashboards of key performance indicators, build customized apps, and more. In addition, SharePoint can integrate with other Microsoft (such as Teams and OneDrive) and non-Microsoft (such as Salesforce) applications.

Learn how to work smarter and increase your team’s productivity with SharePoint. Accelebrate offers live online or onsite Microsoft SharePoint training classes for all roles, including developers, administrators, or end users using SharePoint on-premise (e.g., 2016 or 2019) or SharePoint Online (the cloud-based version). All of our live online or in-person SharePoint courses are hands-on and can be tailored to your team’s prior experience and goals.

What are the different roles within SharePoint?

Not sure where which SharePoint training courses match your needs? Here are the different roles within SharePoint:

  • End User is the most common user, who contributes content to the site, works with documents and list items, but has no responsibility for site configuration and maintenance.

  • Power User has the characteristics and permissions of the End User, plus responsibilities for creating and maintaining components of the site, including lists, libraries, web pages and more.

  • Site Owner has the characteristics and permissions of the Power User, plus overall control of the site, including designing the site, managing permissions and creating sub-sites.

  • Site Collection Administrator has the characteristics and permissions of the Site Owner, plus overall control of a site collection. A site collection is a discrete unit with its own users, permission levels, and features.

  • Farm Administrator is the individual in charge of the entire SharePoint installation, controlling all site collections, web applications, storage and maintenance.
