Contrary to what many people believe, the Python programming language did not take its name from the large snake that wraps itself around its prey. Instead, it was named for the popular comedy troupe, Monty Python. Fans of the group's movies and television shows will spot several nods to the troupe in the references and tutorials. This is all in keeping with the philosophy stated by the language's primary author, Guido van Rossum, who believed that programming should be fun, code should be readable and simplicity should triumph over complexity.
The basic simplicity of Python is that users can add extensions for specific purposes, such as connecting to a database, working with graphical user interfaces or designing applications for the Internet. Python can support object-oriented programming, traditional structured code and a variety of other paradigms. Given the wide range of industries based in Houston, from financial institutions to oil companies, the flexibility of Python seems ideal for meeting a variety of high-tech demands in the city.
Because Python is such a versatile programming language, professional training is often required to tap its full potential. It is possible to qualify for group rates with as few as three attendees, which equates to a lower cost per attendee than three individual programs. Attendees typically learn more from an in-person training session delivered by a knowledgeable instructor. Students attending group training may also have the opportunity to learn from each other, such as may occur when one attendee asks a pertinent question that had not occurred to the others.
Python is a fast, flexible, and powerful programming language that is freely available and used in many application domains. Python is known for its clear syntax, succinct code, fast processing, and cross-platform compatibility.
Accelebrate's hands-on, instructor-led Python training classes prepare everyone from first-time programmers to experienced developers for developing sophisticated scripts and applications in the Python programming language. In addition to the core language, Accelebrate also teaches classes on using Python specifically for engineers, data analysts, scientists, and statisticians.

Data Reshaping with Pandas in Python
Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT
Data reshaping can be a challenging task. Your data arrives in one shape, but to create a chart or perform an analysis, you need to wrangle it into a different shape. The good news is that the Pandas package provides several different ways to organize your data.
Which method do you use to reshape the data, though? In this free webinar, Data Scientist and Python, R, and Pandas trainer Jemma Nelson teaches you how to use Pandas methods pivot, stack, unstack, melt, and pivot_table to reshape your data. Different methods will be compared and contrasted and strategies for moving from 'messy' to 'tidy' data will be explored. At the end, Jemma will eagerly answer questions.

Python is a remarkably powerful dynamic programming language that is used in a wide variety of application domains. Python is often compared to Tcl, Perl, Ruby, Scheme or Java. Python runs on Windows, Linux/Unix, and Mac OS X, and has been ported to the Java and .NET runtimes. To learn more about Python, its applications, and benefits, visit the Python Software Foundation.
